Project Overview

Click Learning is an education service that matches students with educators based on their learning preferences, personality traits, interests, and hobbies to provide a personalized and mentor-like learning experience.

Problem: Parents who use Click Learning's services do not have access to a dedicated dashboard that allows them to manage their child's learning experience effectively.

Design Goal: Create a user-friendly dashboard that allows parents to manage their child's learning experience, view progress reports, and communicate with their child's tutor. Additionally, to design an intuitive onboarding experience that matches parents with the best tutor based on their child's unique learning needs, interests, and preferences.

My Contributions

I worked collaboratively with my team to execute and analyze User Research and Usability Testing, while also actively engaging with stakeholders throughout the process. Additionally, I was responsible for Heuristic Evaluation, IA, UI Design, Interaction Design, Hi-Fidelity Mockup and Developer Handoff within a Lean UX framework.

Click Learning's Unique Selling Point

By conducting a Comparative Analysis, we contrasted Click Learning with their direct competitors and found that there were two areas in which the business fell short, namely the absence of a tutor messaging system and a tutor filtering feature.

The distinctive feature that sets Click Learning apart from other competitors is its matching aspect.

Heuristic Evaluation Insights

In order to ensure optimal usability, I conducted a Heuristic Evaluation. It helped us identify several issues that required attention, allowing us to make informed and effective design decisions going forward.

One of the significant findings was that new visitors were unable to access the "Educators" and "Book Now" pages without logging in first, leading to confusion. To address this, we will move this information to the Parents Dashboard for easier access.

Exploring User Perspectives

To further understand users’ needs and wants with online tutoring, we conducted 5 user interviews with existing clients. We asked the participants questions regarding their challenges and key concerns in online tutoring as well as how tracking their children’s progress can be easier.

Building Empathy Through User Personas

Through the insights gained from our user interviews, we identified the pain points, challenges, and desires of our users. We carefully analyzed the data and crafted a primary persona that captured the essence of our target audience.

Balancing Business, User, and Technical Factors

As we transitioned from the research phase into product development, I took a holistic approach by mapping out the intersection of business objectives, user needs, and technical requirements.

By identifying the common ground between these three areas, we were able to pinpoint the core project goals that would deliver the most value to both the business and its users.

Crafting an Effective Design Through Collaboration and Feedback

After analyzing our research results, we moved to an Ideation Workshop where, as a team, we generated a pool of diverse ideas and began testing them with users. Through this process, we were able to gather valuable feedback, iterate on our concepts, and effectively address the challenges we identified in our research.

Challenge #1

Increasing the efficiency of matching students with educators

We have developed an Interactive Onboarding Questionnaire that enables users to answer 7 key questions. These questions are carefully curated to ensure that we can connect them with an educator who shares their child's hobbies, interests, learning style, and educational requirements.

Challenge #2

Creating a Dedicated Parent Dashboard

We created a Parents Dashboard with easy navigation for accessing multiple learner profiles, educators, booking, messaging, and wallet. The dashboard displays upcoming sessions and educators previously used for their kids. Additionally, it offers educator recommendations with a match percentage to find the perfect match for their child. This streamlined approach makes finding educational services for children more convenient.

Challenge #3

Optimizing Progress Tracking and Session Management

Our team created a user-friendly booking page, allowing parents to effortlessly view, join, reschedule or cancel their child's tutoring sessions.

Additionally, we developed a messaging page to facilitate direct communication between parents and educators, providing parents with regular progress reports on their child's development.

Designing with Click Learning's Branding in Mind

This style guide is based on current branding elements, which include the primary blue and beige color scheme and typography. We've also added some new colors to the palette, which we've incorporated into various UI components such as buttons, forms, and icons. This guide aims to provide a cohesive and consistent design approach that aligns with Click Learning's branding.

Bringing it all Together

Final Thoughts and Future Directions

Throughout this project, I've come to appreciate the enormous value of working closely with team members and stakeholders. By openly exchanging ideas and perspectives, we were able to craft a more distinctive and effective final product.

I'm eagerly looking forward to its launch in 2023 and would like to express my gratitude to our client, Sarah Allaire, and my colleagues for their collaborative efforts that contributed to the success of this project.

To take the customer experience to the next level, I recommend exploring the following steps:

Finalize the design and development of the tutors page, which will allow parents to effortlessly book sessions with their chosen tutor.

Develop a mobile version of the platform to increase accessibility for busy parents on the go.

Track key KPIs such as customer satisfaction, customer retention, and website traffic after the product launch to accurately measure its success and identify areas for improvement.

I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed working on this project! Thank you for time.
